Decodes the Base64 string into its raw bytes first, then renders each byte as two hex digits - operating on the actual byte values, not on character codes of a UTF-8-decoded string, which matters because arbitrary Base64 payloads aren't guaranteed to be valid text at all. Runs entirely client-side.

Overview

Paste a Base64 string or data URI to decode it into its actual bytes, then see each byte rendered as two hex digits, either space-separated in groups or as one compact run. Like the Base64 to Binary Converter, this operates on the decoded `Uint8Array` directly - each byte becomes its own hex pair - rather than converting the code points of a UTF-8-decoded string, which would silently corrupt any decoded content that spans more than one byte per character or isn't valid text at all. Useful for inspecting binary payloads, debugging encoded assets, or feeding a hex value into another tool. Runs entirely client-side; nothing you paste is ever uploaded.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste Base64 or a data URI. A data URI prefix is stripped automatically if present.
  2. Decoded to raw bytes. The Base64 string is decoded into a Uint8Array of actual bytes.
  3. Each byte becomes hex. Every byte is rendered as two hex digits, grouped or compact.
  4. Copy the result. Grab the full hex string with one click.

Why use this tool

Byte-aware, not character-aware

Decodes to real bytes first, so the hex is correct for any decoded content, including non-text binary data.

Two display modes

Space-separated groups for readability, or a compact run for pasting elsewhere.

Data URI support

Paste a full data URI and the base64 payload is extracted automatically.

Nothing leaves your browser

Decoding happens entirely client-side.

Frequently asked questions

The Base64 Decoder outputs the decoded content as readable text. This tool outputs the decoded content's raw bytes as hexadecimal - useful for binary data that may not be valid text at all.

Converting per-character code points instead of per-byte silently breaks on decoded content containing multi-byte UTF-8 sequences or non-text binary data. Decoding to a byte array first and converting each byte guarantees a correct result regardless of what the Base64 encodes.
