Overview
A split-pane Markdown editor: write on one side, see a rendered preview on the other, updated as you type. Markdown is parsed with the marked library and every bit of resulting HTML is run through DOMPurify before it’s displayed, so raw <script> tags, inline event handlers, and javascript: links embedded in Markdown input are stripped rather than executed - useful reassurance if you’re previewing Markdown from an untrusted source (a PR description, a scraped README, a pasted email) rather than only your own writing. Runs entirely client-side; nothing you write is uploaded anywhere.
Best for: Previewing a README or PR description with a live, safe rendered view
How to use this tool
- Write Markdown. Headers, lists, links, fenced code blocks, and more.
- See a live preview. Rendered with marked and updated as you type.
- Sanitized automatically. Every render is cleaned with DOMPurify - embedded scripts and dangerous links never execute.
Frequently asked questions
The rendered HTML is sanitized with DOMPurify before display, and raw <script>, <iframe>, <object>, and <form> tags plus inline event-handler attributes are explicitly stripped, along with dangerous URL schemes like javascript: in links. That covers the standard XSS vectors people worry about when previewing untrusted Markdown, though as with any client-side sanitizer, this tool is not a substitute for a security review of a system that renders Markdown at scale.
No - parsing, sanitizing, and rendering all happen in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
The converter is a lightweight regex-based tool for converting Markdown to HTML text (or back) that you’d copy elsewhere - it doesn’t render a live preview. This editor uses a real Markdown parser and shows an actual rendered, sanitized preview side by side with the source as you type.
