Overview
Cleans up the indentation and brace placement of LESS source without compiling it - @variables, mixins, and nested rules all pass through untouched as literal text, because this only adjusts whitespace rather than interpreting LESS syntax. That’s a different job from compiling: if you want @variables resolved and nested rules flattened into plain CSS, use the LESS Compiler instead. This tool is for the more common day-to-day case of just wanting a messy or minified LESS file to read clearly again before you edit it. Runs entirely client-side; nothing you paste is ever uploaded.
Best for: Cleaning up a messy or minified LESS file before editing it
How to use this tool
- Paste LESS. Minified or inconsistently indented LESS source works fine.
- Reformatted instantly. Braces, selectors, and declarations are reformatted for readability - LESS syntax stays intact.
- Copy the result. Copy the cleaned-up LESS, still valid LESS, not compiled CSS.
Frequently asked questions
No - that’s compilation, not formatting. This tool only touches whitespace and brace placement; @variables, mixin calls, and nested rules are left exactly as written. For variable resolution and flattening, use the LESS Compiler.
The output is reformatted LESS, not CSS - it can still contain @variables and nested rules that aren’t valid plain CSS on their own. If you need browser-ready CSS, compile it first with the LESS Compiler.
