These use real Unicode Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols (and, for a few script letters with no Math-Alphanumeric codepoint, the older Letterlike Symbols block) rather than an actual font or markup change - they are different characters, not styled text. Only A-Z and a-z are mapped; digits, punctuation, and non-Latin characters pass through unchanged since no real codepoint exists for them in these variants. Appearance depends heavily on the viewer's font and platform, search and copy-paste matching may not work the way it does for plain text, and plain text remains the better choice anywhere accessibility (such as screen readers) matters.

Overview

Convert plain text into Mathematical Bold, Mathematical Italic, and Mathematical Script (cursive-style) Unicode characters, using explicit, individually-verified per-letter lookup tables rather than a simple character-code offset formula. That distinction matters because the Mathematical Script range genuinely isn't contiguous: eight uppercase letters (B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R) and three lowercase letters (e, g, o) have no codepoint in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block at all - Unicode instead reuses older, pre-existing Letterlike Symbols codepoints for those specific letters, and Mathematical Italic has its own single gap at lowercase "h". A formulaic offset would silently produce wrong or unassigned characters for exactly those letters; this tool maps every A-Z and a-z explicitly instead. Digits, punctuation, and non-Latin characters have no mapping in these variants and pass through completely unchanged rather than being guessed at. Because these are genuinely different Unicode characters rather than a font or CSS style, appearance depends on the viewer's font and platform, copy-pasted search may not match plain text, and plain, unstyled text remains the better choice anywhere accessibility matters. Runs entirely client-side.

How to use this tool

  1. Type your text. Only A-Z and a-z are converted; everything else passes through unchanged.
  2. See all three variants at once. Bold, Italic, and Script results are shown together.
  3. Copy the one you want. Each variant has its own copy button.

Frequently asked questions

These are different Unicode characters entirely, not a font or CSS style applied to the same letters. That is why appearance can vary across devices and why pasting this text into a search box may not match the plain-text version of the same word.

Because the Mathematical Script Unicode range has real gaps - eight uppercase letters and three lowercase letters were never assigned a codepoint in that range, since equivalent older characters already existed in the Letterlike Symbols block, so Unicode reused those instead. This tool maps those specific letters to their correct, real substitute codepoints rather than guessing.

They pass through completely unchanged - there is no real Mathematical Bold/Italic/Script codepoint mapping implemented here for digits or punctuation in this tool, so nothing is invented for them.
