About this tool

Click "Generate another" to see a random country's flag, name, and continent, drawn from a curated list of 50 countries spanning every inhabited continent. Flags render as native Unicode flag emoji rather than image files or SVGs, so they display crisply at any size using whatever flag emoji set the visiting device already supports, with zero image assets to load. A running history of the 8 most recently shown flags stays visible below, so you can glance back at what came up without losing track mid-session. This is a simple, no-frills tool by design - no API calls, no external flag image sets, just a hardcoded reference list and the browser's own emoji rendering doing the work, which keeps it instant and completely offline-capable. Useful as a quick trivia or guessing-game prompt, a random icebreaker for a team activity, or just a bit of low-stakes fun between using the site's more practical developer tools. Runs entirely client-side.

Frequently asked questions

Flag emoji are rendered by the operating system or browser's own emoji font, not by this site - most modern platforms (recent iOS, Android, Windows, macOS) render them as proper flag images, but some older systems or certain Linux emoji fonts fall back to showing the two-letter country code instead, since they don't include region flag glyphs. This is a platform-level emoji support limitation, not something this tool can control.

They're a curated list aiming for a genuine spread across every inhabited continent - North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania - rather than an exhaustive list of all ~195 recognized countries. This keeps the pool varied without being so large that well-known countries feel diluted among many rarely-recognized ones.

No - each "Generate another" click explicitly excludes the currently shown country from the random selection, so you'll always see a different flag than the one you just had, even though which one comes up next is otherwise fully random.
